The night of the first snows, Anya gets up to check on the sheep and finds they're in distress. She runs to find Bran, and he helps her with the lambing process. Or rather, Bran helps the sheep, and Anya mostly panics. In the end Halfrek gives birth to two lambs, and Celia one, and there is much rejoicing.

As of today, Eddie had known his daughter for more than half her life. One day more than half her life, but still more. It wasn't as good as having known her since birth, but it still made him feel a bit better about having missed the first year.
